New home care strike and protest

Once again there will be a march and strike rally to defend the Homecare service.  It's this Saturday 15th September 12 noon in Victoria Square, Birmingham.

The Council want to make cuts to the service and change working conditions for Home carers, which may see workers losing £11,000 a year,  all this whilst they pay external consultants £12 million to look at the merger of Birmingham and Solihull services in this area.

Home Care workers turned out to picket work places last week and to explain their cause to fellow Council workers.

The Home Care workers have ramped up their efforts to be seen and to get the message over that they feel unfairly treated by the Council's proposals to cut hours and inevitably wages.

Pickets turned out at Lifford House and a number of other Council workplaces. At Lifford there was a PCS steward who turned up to show solidarity with the strikers.
