Estimates of 350 people turned up in awful cold sleeting weather to show support and solidarity with Home Care workers who went on strike on Saturday 20th January.

Speeches were made by Birmingham branch officers and Home Care workers. Banner Theatre provided a band to entertain the crowd.

Supporters came to Victoria Square from Manchester community group, Solihull, Telford and Erdington Labour groups.

The crowd marched down New Street and up High St to arrive back by the Cathedral grounds. It certainly showed the Birmingham public and the Councillors, the strength of feeling against the Council's proposed changes to the Home Care workers. BBC  Midlands Today and other local media also carried a report.  There also video footage on  our Facebook page . Unison's national secretary David Prentis also offerede a message of support on the national website .
