City Council appoints chief

 The Birmingham Mail has reported that Stella Manzie has become the interim Chief Executive replacing Mark Rogers who left under secretive circurmstances .

She  was recently sent by Government to crisis-hit Rotherham to help clear up the council in the wake of the grooming gangs and child sexual exploitation scandals. She has a reputation for turning around "failing councils".

Her job will be to reorganise the Council and cut 4,000 staff to save the Council £40 million over two years.

For this post ,the Mail reports ,she will be on a salary of £180,000. She will start with Council approval in April and finish in the Autumn when a permanent appointment will be made. She has the backing of John Clancy and the Conservative and Liberal Council leaders.

 

The City Council has made further changes to senior managent

Strategic director for change and corporate services Angela Probert will continue in her role as acting chief executive until Ms Manzie’s appointment is ratified on April 4.

The council has further strengthened its top team of officers:

Waheed Nazir has been appointed corporate director economy

Jacqui Kennedy appointed corporate director place. Both were previously acting in the roles.

Peter Hay leaves as Director of People .

 Graeme Betts is interim Director of Adults & Health
