Child and Family Social Workers Consultation on Assessment and Accreditation

The Department for Education is developing a national assessment and accreditation system for child and family social workers.  This work is being carried out by a consortium led by KPMG.

The Department for Education has now opened a very short consultation from July 28th to September 1st seeking views on the knowledge and skills that practice supervisors and practice leaders in child and family social work should have.

It lists statements of knowledge and skills that they think should form the basis for accreditation in child and family social work for both practice leaders and practice supervisors.

You can read the statements here via the link.

Please share this with your children and family social work members and ask them for their views on

  • Whether there is anything else that should be included in the statement which sets out what a practice leader and practice supervisor needs to know and be able to do.

Members please send their views on the statements to m.egan@unison.co.uk by the 26th of August along with any other comments about the assessment and accreditation scheme.
