Wanted Five senior managers to fill council jobs worth up to 153k per year

The decision by the City Council to bow to Government pressure to appoint 3 new managers on £153k a year is an insult to all those staff facing job and pay cuts.

Two of these jobs were axed as part of the cuts that have seen the non schools based staff slashed from 20,000 to 13,000 in 4 years. They plan to cut staff by a further 6,000 at least in the next 4 years.

With such wholesale destruction of frontline jobs why do we need more highly paid managers?
