Talks On Changes To PDR System

Corporate HR have had three consultation meetings with city wide union representatives over possible changes to the PDR system, to be introduced from next April 2015. This is the second major review of PDRs. The previous review led to the dropping of challenging objectives, changes to the thresholds for achieving the A- E overall scores, and a new approach to measuring the Birmingham Way behaviour targets.

Management have told us that they recognise how unpopular PDRs have become and they have been told by the new Chief Executive to make significant changes. We have been pushing for the link between PDRs and pay to be dropped. Management say they will not agree to this.

We understand that in the next six to eight weeks, there will be consultation meetings with a large cross section of managers and staff and that after that specific proposals will be put to the unions for consultation. Any changes that require changes to the PDR computer systems we are told will have to be given to the software designers around December.
