Senior Labour Councillor Resigns

James McKay , a senior Birmingham Labour councillor  for Harborne , has resigned from his role in the authority's cabinet - saying he does not think Birmingham can make "the changes it needs" under the leadership of Sir Albert Bore.

He  was responsible for inclusion and community safety and tweeted he stepped down "with a lot of sadness"in his letter of resitgnation.

in which he praised Sir Albert's contribution over the years, but called for the city's leadership to be more open to working with the wider council.
